In today’s Gospel passage we hear the familiar but yet mysterious:
“In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…and the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (John 1: 1, 14).
The Christian writer Max Lucado reflects:
“God went from commanding angels to sleeping in the straw, from holding stars to clutching Mary’s finger. The palm that held the universe took the nail of a soldier. Why? Because that’s what Love does.”
On this great day let us celebrate God’s great love for us. Let us celebrate Jesus – God’s greatest gift to us. Let us listen as the child cries out from the manger: “I came for you, now come to me”.
