In today’s Old Testament reading (Isaiah 7: 10-14) we hear of the prophecy of the birth of our Savior – Emmanuel, “God with us”.  In the gospel (Matthew 1:18-24) we hear of the fulfillment of that prophecy.

When we reflect for a moment, we realize just how utterly profound it is that God willed to take on human form, to be “God with us”, to live among us, to make himself known to us, to walk with us, to teach us, to die for us, to save us – all simply because he loves us.

And all God asks in return is for us to love him and each other.
