In yesterday’s gospel (Luke 1:26-38) we heard of the Annunciation and Mary’s “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord” uttered in perfect trust and obedience. Today (Luke 1:39-45) we hear of the Visitation and Elizabeth’s “Who am I that the Mother of my Lord should come to me?” uttered in perfect humility.

May we emulate these great Saints in our trust, obedience, and humility especially now as we make final preparations for the arrival of our Savior.  And may we realize, as did Mary and Elizabeth, how blessed and privileged we are to believe in God’s promise, and to be the recipients of the fulfillment of that promise – our salvation in Jesus Christ.
