Today, as we wrap up Advent, Zechariah – profoundly inspired by God’s Spirit – has the last word:
“Blessed be the Lord, our God, for he raises up for us a mighty Savior…His compassion breaks upon us like the dawn…His light shines through the darkness…He guides our feet in the way of peace…He sets us free.” (Luke 1:67-79)
On this Christmas Eve, we once again keep vigil for Jesus – our light, our guide, our peace, our salvation. We await Jesus, confident in all the promises made by our faithful God.
