Good Friday Darkness….

Today, as we commemorate the passion and death of our Savior, the darkness surrounds us.

And this darkness only seems more impenetrable when we contemplate yesterday’s atrocity in Kenya where 151 souls were killed simply because they proclaimed themselves to be Disciples of Christ.

Like Jesus himself, these 151 martyred saints, did not shrink from witnessing to God’s truth, goodness, and love. Like Jesus, they took up their own crosses.  Like Jesus, even amidst unspeakable evil, they stood upright, bolstered by their faith in their God.

And, like Jesus, their lives did not end on the cross.  Those 151 souls were swept up in the resurrection that we celebrate in just two days.

For  we know that no matter how impenetrable it may seem, today’s darkness and death turn into tomorrow’s joy and rebirth.  This is what Jesus did for us. This is the way of our loving God.   This is our faith.
