Holy Thursday

On the night of the Passover feast prior to His passion and death, Jesus left us with two very special gifts.  He gave us the gift of Himself in the Eucharist and the gift of His Way in the example He set as He stooped down and washed His disciples’ feet.  And these two precious gifts are best when taken together for it is only with Christ living within us that we can live up to the model of selfless humility that He demonstrated for us.  And it is only in accepting an attitude of humble and selfless servitude that we allow Christ’s spirit to most effectively grow in us more and more.

So tonight as we celebrate the mass of this Holy Thursday, we thank Jesus for these two great gifts and ask Him for the grace and strength to live the life that He calls us to.

“And he took bread, and when he had given thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” Luke 22:19

Blessings on All on this Solemn but ultimately Hopeful Day.
