It is interesting that on this last day of the year today’s gospel takes us back to the very beginning.  In these first verses of John’s gospel (John 1:1-18) God reveals Jesus as His divine Word, one in being with the Father from all time, sent by the Father – God Incarnate, fully divine and fully human –  to walk among us, to be our friend, to teach us, to heal us, to save us.

In this New Year, in addition to the usual resolutions, we can also resolve to come to know this great mystery of God’s love more and more.  We can ask God for the grace to come to know and love Him more deeply, to feel His presence, to understand his truths.

From  “Word Among Us” reflection –

“In Jesus our lives have meaning and purpose. Place yourself in the presence of the timeless, eternal, ever-present Word of God.  Let him show you who you are, where you came from, and where he wants to take you.  He has your future in his hands and he is waking with you every step of the way. Trust him, surrender yourself to him.”
